Hi,
Auto focus works just fine with the 120-300 S 2.8 and 2 x converter.
The new Sigma 2 x converter only works with 3 different lenses, the 120-300 S 2.8 and 150-600 S and 150-600 C, the latter 2 only when mounted on a DSLR that auto focuses at F8.
I would have thought that the old model 2 x converter would auto focus with the 105 2.8.
Also you do not say if you are using a Sigma teleconverter or another brand like canon or Nikon
