Venezia-Sestiere di Dorsoduro-Scuola Grande dei Carmini- Le Scuole erano confraternite laiche che eleggevano un Santo Protettore e alle quali aderivano cittadini di ceto medio. I patrizi aderivano solo alle Scuole Grandi. La finalità della Scuola, i cui confratelli erano laici e appartenenti alla classe dei cittadini, consisteva nel dare sostegno religioso ed economico ai confratelli, nel dispensare elemosine ai poveri e ai malati e di concorrere ai loro funerali, di nel fornire di dote le fanciulle per il matrimonio o per la monacazione.Qui siamo nella Sala dell'Archivio che ha le pareti coperte da preziosi dossali in legno, opera dello scultore Giacomo Piazzetta. I quadranti contengono bassorilievi con motivi floreali intervallati da sculture rappresentanti cariatidi, sopra le cui teste scorre un ciclo di pitture su tela di Giustino Menescardi. La mia amica Sonia legge tutta intenta il foglio che ci hanno dato all'ingresso e che ci aiuta ad apprezzare questa meraviglia.
