Mettere a fuoco le cornici sarebbe stato difficile in quanto la luce delle figure "a fuoco" arriva da una distanza notevolmente differente.

No no ma il concetto è semplice, lo specchio riflette la luce. Se l'oggetto è distante 30 metri, per mettere a fuoco lo specchio devi mettere a fuoco "come se tu volessi mettere a fuoco a 30 metri", non alla distanza della fotocamera dallo specchio.
Prova a mettere la tua mano davanti a uno specchio e con gli occhi metti a fuoco qualcosa che è lontano. La mano sarà sfocata, perché la luce che i tuoi occhi stanno mettendo a fuoco arriva da "più lontano".
