Il lupo del Simien, oltre ad essere il predatore più minacciato d' estrinzione dell' Africa, secondo me è un animale di rara eleganza ed il pensiero di tornarlo a vedere alla fine del safari in Tanzania a Marzo, lo trovo molto allettante. Purtroppo ne sopravvivono tra i 4 ed i 500 esemplari e, anche a causa della gestione troppo lassista dei parchi Etiopi, è fortemente minacciato dalla malattie trasmesse dagli animali domestici come le mandrie di bovini, ovini, cavalli ed i cani che invadono i loro territori. Il vero killer è soprattutto la rabbia che ciclicamente ne decima la popolazione che poi, come in questi anni, fatica parecchio a riprendersi.
