Dal belvedere di Rocca delle Donne, a Camino, dove ho scattato la foto, lo sguardo compie un percorso visivo di quasi 90 chilometri, attraversando la pianura vercellese trasformata, in primavera, nel suggestivo “mare a quadretti” delle risaie allagate. Oltre gli specchi d’acqua e le ultime luci della pianura, si alza la Serra Morenica di Ivrea, grande rilievo glaciale che separa e unisce Canavese e Biellese. Più in fondo, il solco a “V” segna lo sbocco della Valle d’Aosta verso la pianura, in corrispondenza della gola di Bard. Ai lati, le dorsali delle Alpi Graie e dei rilievi valdostani e biellesi chiudono l’orizzonte; sopra la “V”, lungo il profilo dei monti, emerge la piramide del Monte Emilius (3.559 m), dietro la quale si apre la conca di Aosta.
