La statua si trova in Piazza Pia, vicino a Castel Sant'Angelo, in direzione di Via della Conciliazione. Per avere il corretto punto di osservazione bisogna accedere ad una aiuola rialzata in Largo Giovanni XXIII, tra Piazza Pia e Castel Sant'Angelo e ciò comporta una piccola 'arrampicata', un po' rischiosa se non si è agili ... La prospettiva allinea la scultura di Santa Caterina con la cupola della Basilica di San Pietro, facendola apparire nell'atto di chinarsi per un bacio.
