San Leucio è una piccola frazione di Caserta, nota per essere stata sede della omonima colonia tessile voluta da Ferdinando IV e specializzata nella produzione di seta. La colonia era formata dalle famiglie degli operai, che vivevano nelle case a schiera di fronte allo stabilimento tessile. Gli abitanti seguivano un insieme di regole differente dal resto del regno (il Codice Leuciano) che prevedeva, tra l'altro: un’amministrazione locale eletta periodicamente in maniera democratica; che i giovani si sposassero per amore senza interventi esterni dei genitori e che la giornata lavorativa non potesse durare più di undici ore (mentre al tempo in Inghilterra il limite arrivava a sedici).
