Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II che collega Piazza del Duomo con Piazza della Scala, fu costruita fra il 1865 e il 1877 su progetto dell'Architetto Giuseppe Mengoni, è considerata uno dei primi centri commerciali al mondo. Per poterla ammirare in tutto la sua bellezza bisognerebbe visitarla al mattino presto, come appare nella foto scattata alle 6,45 del mattino, per poter gustare con calma le sue volte in ferro e vetro e l'imponente cupola centrale oltre ai mosaici del pavimento in cui spiccano gli stemmi delle quattro capitali d'Italia: Milano, Torino, Firenze e Roma. Nella foto, grazie alla poca confusione, attraversando con lo sguardo le costruzioni gemelle di Palazzo Arengario, si può godere della veduta su piazza Diaz con il monumento al Carabiniere e l'imponente palazzo della Terrazza Martini.
