"La Contrada "Pagani" è la più alta Contrada (gruppo di Case) abitata della Lessinia Veronese (1260 mt slm). E' fra le più caratteristiche della Lessinia soprattutto perché è ben mantenuta l'architettura cimbra. La sua posizione geografica e territoriale, in realtà, risponde più di tutte le altre contrade a criteri e ad esigenze di un complesso di edifici civili e rurali difesi a nord da quel baluardo naturale che si chiama “Montagna Alba”, meglio conosciuto in loco con il nome di “Costiera del sole” o Sondelaite, alla cimbra. A Pagani si possono ammirare tre piccoli monumenti di carattere religioso e popolare: una bella edicola del 1874 con l'immagine dell'Addolorata, la fontana del Mouss costruita nel 1794, una casa particolare, detta “La Casa del prete”, che è stata l'abitazione di un sacerdote di nome Pagani Bartolomeo e che sull'arco della porta d'ingresso porta la scritta NON AE / BAR MAEI LATET OSTIUM 1785 che significa «La porta della casa di Bartolomeo non è nascosta». Don Bartolomeo non fu mai un parroco, ma solo un “sacerdote di libera professione”, si direbbe oggi. Dalla contrada giunsero, però, altri sacerdoti Pagani, di cui, uno in particolare, fu parroco del paese per due mandati: don Domenico Pagani. Ci sono anche alcune stalle a tesa cimbra con i caratteristici “bocaròi”. Campofontana (paese dove si trova la Contrada Pagani) si trova al culmine della dorsale dei Lessini tra le profonde vallate di Illasi e del Chiampo, sul confine tra le province di Verona e Vicenza."
