Le case colorate di Costa Nova do Prado, vicino ad Aveiro, sono uno degli scenari più fotografati del Portogallo e dietro ai loro vivaci colori c'è una storia affascinante legata alla vita dei pescatori. È un piccolo borgo balneare situato tra l'Oceano Atlantico e la Ria de Aveiro, famoso per le sue case a righe verticali o orizzontali, chiamate palheiros. Oggi è una località turistica elegante e rilassata, ma fino a pochi decenni fa era un semplice villaggio di pescatori. Originariamente, i palheiros non erano abitazioni, ma magazzini in legno costruiti dai pescatori per riporre le reti e gli attrezzi da pesca.
