Percorso un lungo tratto della strada che attraversa la Quebrada di Humahuaca dopo aver attraversato alcuni piccoli paesi lasciamo la strada principale ed iniziamo a salire lentamente lungo una strada sterrata che con ripidi tornanti ci porta fino a 4300 metri di altitudine del punto panoramico di Hornocal, punto privilegiato per ammirare il “Cerro de Los 14 Colores “ una montagna dalle molteplici sfumature di colori date dalla presenza di numerosi minerali. Questa è una caratteristica di tutte le montagne della zona ma qui è particolarmente evidenziata ed accentuata. Sembra che qualcuno si sia messo a colorare meticolosamente la montagna con forme perfettamente piramidali: madre natura ha modellato la roccia come un abile scultore. È sicuramente uno dei luoghi più suggestivi che abbiamo mai visto fino ad oggi. Scattiamo una serie di scatti e poi non possiamo fare altro che rimanere a contemplare questa meraviglia che madre natura sa offrirci. Si alza il vento, l'aria è fredda e la rapida salita dalla quota di 1200 metri ai 4300 metri si fa sentire per cui, dopo un'oretta, scendiamo. Oggi abbiamo ancora tanta strada per raggiungere la nostra destinazione di giornata. (continua....)
