Siamo a Carzano e Novale, due piccoli borghi di Monte Isola sul lago d'Iseo dove ogni 5 anni(seconda settimana di settembre) si celebra la festa di S.Croce. Nell'anno 1836 il colera colpì duramente la zona del lago d'Iseo e, in particolare, Calzano e Novale dove si registrò un alto numero di decessi. Gli abitanti di questi borghi, per essere risparmiati dall'imperversare della malattia, fecero un voto alla Santissima Croce promettendo di onorarla con una grande festa ogni 5 anni. Ogni lustro infatti questi borghi vengono addobbati con arcate ricoperte di rami di pino e fiori di carta realizzati rigorosamente a mano dagli abitanti del luogo, in modo così perfetto da sembrare veri. Un lungo lavoro che si tramanda di famiglia in famiglia e di generazione in generazione. Questa celebrazione è conosciuta in tutta Europa e attira migliaia di visitatori.
