La chiesa di Santa Maria delle Grazie sorge a Soncino, fuori porta, lungo l'antica strada commerciale che collegava Bergamo a Cremona. Fu edificata a partire dal 1501 per la comunità religiosa dei Carmelitani che vi rimasero fino alla soppressione degli ordini religiosi imposta da Maria Teresa. La chiesa fu a lungo una sorta di mausoleo della famiglia Stampa di Soncino. L'interno della chiesa, ad aula unica con cappelle laterali, è completamente decorato da affreschi rinascimentali che seguono un complesso programma iconografico, eseguiti da Francesco Scanzi, Francesco e Bernardino Carminati e il celebre Giulio Campi di Cremona, cui si devono i quattro Evangelisti nelle vele della volta del presbiterio e, probabilmente, l'Assunzione di Maria dell'arco trionfale, visibili in fotografia.
