Chioggia... Il Bragozzo, detto anche "bragosso" in dialetto veneto, è stata la barca da pesca più diffusa nell'alto Adriatico fra la seconda metà dell'800 e la prima metà del '900. Quest'imbarcazione dal fondo piatto, infatti, si era dimostrata assolutamente perfetta per la navigazione in quell'area della laguna particolarmente caratterizzata da bassi fondali, brezze moderate e poco mare. Il bragozzo può misurare dai 9 ai 16 metri ed è largo un quarto della sua lunghezza. Fino all'avvento del motore, usava la vela al terzo con due alberi. I bragozzi tradizionali che troviamo in laguna sono costruiti ancora completamente in legno e per i loro colori vivaci non ti sarà difficile riconoscerli! Le loro caratteristiche strutturali le rendono un'imbarcazione eco-compatibile con l'ambiente lagunare. Pittoresca imbarcazione tradizionale, la caratteristica che rende davvero uniche le possibilità di navigazione, è proprio la sua chiglia poco profonda: solo in bragozzo infatti riusciremo a raggiungere alcuni angoli della laguna altrimenti non accessibili se non a remi e pagaie; le barche a motore moderne, come anche i taxi acquei, hanno, infatti, un fondo troppo profondo e rischierebbero di arenarsi in secca!
