La Basilica del Sacro Cuore, che domina tutta Parigi dall'alto della sua cupola bianca, è situata nel pieno del quartiere di Montmartre ed è uno dei monumenti più visitati e popolari della capitale francese. Edificato alla fine del XIX secolo, sulla collina di Montmartre, questo monumento dallo stile romano-bizantino riporta immediatamente alla mente la vecchia Parigi, quella dei pittori, dei cabaret e dei caffè letterari, ancora presenti tutto attorno a questo maestoso edificio. Il bianco abbagliante, risplende sia d'estate che d'inverno. La sua imponente cupola, alta 83 metri, offre una vista a 360° sull'area circostante. La cupola, immediatamente riconoscibile, misura 16 metri di diametro e 55 metri di altezza. Ma la sua bellezza non si ferma alla facciata o alla straordinaria vista che offre! Quando si entra, è difficile distogliere lo sguardo dal soffitto, e per una buona ragione: ospita il più grande mosaico di Francia, con una superficie di quasi 480 m2. Anzi, è uno dei più grandi al mondo! Chiamato Mosaico di Cristo in gloria, rivela colori vividi e profondi. Il Cristo risorto rivela un cuore d'oro che cattura lo sguardo di chiunque entri. Il Sacro Cuore ospita anche la campana più grande di Francia: ben 19 tonnellate, 3 metri di diametro e 9 metri di altezza! Un altro dei suoi tesori è senza dubbio la cripta. Vi si trovano diverse statue di santi, tombe di cardinali, reliquie, la cappella Pièta con una grande rappresentazione della Vergine e molto altro ancora. (da France,it)
