La staordinaria Hintze Hall, sala di accesso al National History Museum di Londra, nel quartiere di Kensington. Al soffitto è sospeso lo scheletro di una balenottera azzurra cui è stato dato il nome di Hope. Hope, speranza, nome scelto come simbolo del potere dell'uomo verso un futuro più ecosostenibile, era un bellissimo esemplare di balenottera azzurra di 15 anni, che nel 1891 si arenò e poi morì sulla spiaggia di Wexford, in Irlanda. Il National History Museum l'acquistò per soli 250 sterline, vendette la carne come cibo per animali, il grasso come combustibile mentre lo scheletro venne pulito e leggermente riparato in alcuni punti per essere poi esposto al museo nel 1938. L'edificio, in stile neoromanico, risale al 1870 e fu costruito, appositamente per accogliere le collezioni di storia naturale nazionali, su richiesta di Richard Owen sovrintendente dei dipartimenti di storia naturale del British Museum. Il trasferimento dal British Museum all'attuale sede, incominciato nel 1881, richiese più di un anno di tempo; l'ultima collezione trasferita fu quella di zoologia che richiese 94 giorni.
