“La valle del Lot a monte di Cahors traccia un solco sinuoso sul quale navigano imbarcazioni da diporto e battelli turistici. Le falesie si avvicinano, alte e bianche. Cingono il fiume rinfrescato da alberi e praterie. La strada talvolta è intagliata nella roccia. Segue da vicino questo cammino d'acqua che incanta, uno dei percorsi fluviali più belli della Francia. Si entra rapidamente nel Parco naturale regionale degli altipiani del Quercy. Un autentico scrigno sul quale risalta una perla rara: Saint-Cirq-Lapopie. Appollaiato sopra al fiume, il villaggio medievale si adatta alla sua falesia in maniera spettacolare. Si srotola in una cascata inebriante di vicoli lastricati, di facciate gotiche, di porte fortificate e di malvarose. Un tempo testimone di una vita fluviale fiorente, noto per i suoi tornitori in legno, Saint-Cirq-Lapopie è un sito classificato che comprende 13 monumenti storici. Il villaggio ha conservato intatto tutto il suo patrimonio, ma anche il suo fascino. Piccole botteghe, ristoranti e caffè si riparano dal sole all'ombra di porte ogivali, mentre il luogo colpisce per la sua armonia d'insieme. Fin dall'inizio del XX secolo, il villaggio ha attratto artisti, galleristi parigini e, a partire dal 1950, numerosi artisti del movimento surrealista. Si percepisce ancora in modo netto questa dimensione artistica scoprendo il percorso d'arte contemporanea, senza dimenticare la residenza internazionale degli artisti che ha sede nella Maison Daura. Fu il poeta e scrittore André Breton che fece conoscere Saint-Cirq-Lapopie. A proposito di questo villaggio dove stabilì la sua residenza, dichiarò: «Ho smesso di desiderarmi altrove». Lo si comprende facilmente!” Beh che dire? Questa descrizione lascia assolutamente l'acquolina in bocca e così ho costruito il mio viaggetto in Francia di quattro giorni attorno a questa meraviglia. Passeggiare da solo alle sei del mattino immerso nelle nebbie dei suoi vicoli è una suggestione che mi porterò dietro tutta la vita; scivolare sulle su stradine in discesa di ciottoli bagnati dalla pioggia per andarci a cena è un altra cosa meravigliosa. Purtroppo il meteo per l'ennesima volta non è stato con me clemente cosi che non ho potuto fotografarlo con albe dipinte ed avvolte dalla luce dorata che amo tanto. Per un verso o per un altro, quando la pioggia, quando la nebbia non me lo hanno fatto fotografare come sognavo, ma penso di aver portato a casa un risultato carino almeno dal punto di vista delle suggestioni...ditemi voi quello che pensate.
