Il Castello di Lacoste che fu il rifugio del Marchese de Sade in fuga dagli scandali di Parigi causati dai suoi scritti controversi e dal suo stile di vita libertino, ormai completamente in rovina, fu acquistato nel 2001 dallo stilista Pierre Cardin che lo ristrutturò. Lo stilista acquistò anche gran parte delle abitazioni e dei negozi del paese, ristrutturandoli, con l'idea di trasformare il borgo di Lacoste in “un luogo dove si respirasse cultura”. Il castello fu poi utilizzato come spazio per spettacoli all' aperto. Ogni estate, il Festival di Lacoste, creato dallo stilista, metteva in scena cinema, teatro, danza e opera. Al momento credo sia chiuso.
