Kirkjufells Ice...

Islanda

Kirkjufells Ice sent on January 11, 2025 (15:16) by AlessioFunghi_Ph. 31 comments, 853 views. [retina]

, 5 sec f/8.0, ISO 100, tripod. Kirkjufell, Iceland.

Thank you for the detailed explanation!
Unfortunately on the field sometimes things don't go as you would like, I understand you! ;-)
I also do focus stacking in manual, because nicely Canon has seen fit not to put this function on the first R... :-/ But I do it from the live view display, activating the touch function on the display for focusing, more convenient than the manual one on the lens; so I understand how many and which points I have focused on starting from the low side of the frame. If your camera has this option, I highly recommend it, because it is fast and does not introduce vibrations, just an imperceptible touch on the display. Another thing I recommend to reduce the capture time of the shots is to close the aperture more, even up to f/16 (don't worry, diffraction happens later), so as to take fewer shots! ;-)
Hello, Alberto

I recommend that you do a tripod test at various apertures on the same subject and focus point, in order to understand what the limit of your lens is, so you can use it with peace of mind in the field! ;-)

The shot is all there unfortunately as they have already told you not everything is perfectly in focus :-)

It's true, it lacks sharpness but they have already told you everything. Certainly, such a formidable close-up is not easy to find, and you were really good at composing the scene. Congratulations

This image is beautiful, deep, with an original framing. Great.
