13.08.2024 Siamo partiti dal centro del piccolo villaggio di Bukit, poco dopo le 08.00 del mattino. Oltrepassato il fiume entriamo nella fitta Giungla. Il nostro cammino nel sali e scendi del Gunung Leuser National park è reso ancora più complicato dall'alto tasso di umidità. Dopo circa 4 ore di trekking raggiungiamo un'area meno affollata dai turisti e poco dopo incontriamo lui, il grande Boss...un maschio adulto di circa 35 anni. Questa specie in forte pericolo d'estinzione si trova 'rinchiusa' in una Giungla selvaggia tra le coltivazioni di Palme da Olio. Dobbiamo riflette sul futuro di questa specie. Dobbiamo proteggerla, anche dai turisti da selfie che purtroppo obbligano a comportamenti non naturali questi animali, come ad esempio porgere la mano per ricevere un frutto. Ora fortunatamente non è più concesso dare frutta alle specie selvatiche, ma alcune guide per pochi dollari si vendono ancora per questi turisti poco ecoturisti.
