Il bramito è finito da circa di due mesi, i cervi non hanno più la vigoria tipica degli amori, sono più snelli, la giogaia è praticamente assente, il loro mantello bruno scuro è virato al grigio-rossiccio per fondersi perfettamente al colore delle praterie d'alta quota. La loro magnificenza è però confermata dai possenti palchi che porteranno ancora per tutto l'inverno. Poter vedere questi portenti alimentarsi in campo aperto sui ripidi pendii esposti a sud (dove la neve scioglie prima) nella luce ancora aranciata dell'alba, per poi ritirarsi furtivi nel rimbombo sordo delle loro ampie, eleganti falcate, è per me un'esperienza squisitamente rigenerante. @350 mm
