Tra i recenti interventi di riqualificazione dell'area, la costruzione del palazzo di vetro progettato dall'architetto Massimiliano Fuksas, dove prima sorgeva il Mercato dell'Abbigliamento, è sicuramente tra i più significativi, soprattutto per la definizione dello stesso Fuksas di “grande cavatappi” o “lampada di Aladino”. Nel progetto, l'ex direttore della Biennale di Venezia, ha voluto riprendere il piano ottocentesco della piazza, un perimetro ottagonale, alberato, con esedre laterali, cercando di proporre una nuova struttura armonica e allo stesso tempo flessibile. L'edificio articolato su cinque livelli, di cui due ipogei, si sviluppa intorno a una grande agorà centrale dove sono visibili le ghiacciaie ottocentesche, utilizzate in passato come magazzini refrigeranti per la conservazione dei cibi. Inaugurato nel 2011, ospita per otto anni il Centro Palatino: il nuovo mercato dell'abbigliamento con i suoi 32 negozi distribuiti su due livelli, un bar e un ristorante all'ultimo piano con terrazza panoramica. Da aprile 2019, grazie a un'importante investimento e intervento di restyling, diventa la sede di Mercato Centrale Torino. Aprono 26 nuove botteghe artigianali dedicate all'enogastronomia, una scuola di cucina e laboratori didattici. Al primo piano rimangono attivi i negozi dedicati all'abbigliamento. Il secondo piano e le ghiacciaie diventano invece location per eventi culturali e performance artistiche.
