Termitai abbandonati o tane d'altri animali vengono spesso occupate dalle manguste, come quelle striate (banded mongoose) che qui si affacciano sulla porta di casa. Sono animali gregari, che vivono in gruppi familiari di trenta/quaranta individui. Hanno un'organizzazione sociale interessante e “solidale”, con un maschio dominante e alcune femmine dominanti, le sole che possono procreare. Lo faranno in sincronia e dell'allattamento dei piccoli si occuperanno, senza fare distinzioni tra i propri cuccioli e gli altri, tutte le mamme.
