Nei giorni di Natale 2023, è terminata la ricostruzione in anastilosi di una porzione suggestiva della Basilica Ulpia, la più grande dell'antica Roma, progettata dal celebre architetto di Damasco, Apollodoro, per l'imperatore Traiano. L'operazione è stata finanziata dal magnate uzbeko Alisher Usmanov, che ha stanziato un milione e mezzo di euro in favore del Comune di Roma. Oggi si ammira uno skyline inedito e a prova di sisma: le colonne originali della Basilica sono state riallestite a formare l'antico colonnato su due ordini sovrapposti, con la ricostruzione di parte del grande architrave che sosteneva l'ordine superiore. Peccato che nel sito, già assediato dai lavori per la metro C, stazionino ancora macchinari e materiali del cantiere ...
