at 34mm, 1/60 f/11.0, ISO 250, hand held. Auschwitz, Poland.

How sad, you did well with the choice of color

Unfortunately, humanity has no memory and does not learn from its mistakes, just look at the many wars and poverty that are rampant in every corner of the world, and... who doesn't learn from their mistakes...

Sad shot so as not to forget how terrible men can be. "If understanding is impossible, knowing is necessary, because what has happened can come back..." (Primo Levi)
So thank you Paolo, for your shot and for the feelings described in your dedication.

An iconic image for today, what should bring us back to memory and serve as a warning seems to vanish into the oblivion of the passing of time that not only erases memories but many times distorts them.
Beyond the beauty of the photo, to which I bow, I congratulate you friend Paolo because you have been able to seize the moment.
Have a nice weekend
Franco.
(PS I thought I had already commented on it after Caterina, but then I didn't find it anymore, mysteries of computer science or age, mine of course)

The real problem is that it seems that history has taught us very little... The world in this sad period is a powder keg ready to explode at any moment. Man must not be discouraged and must always point out, especially to the new generations, the horrible persecution of an entire people. This is our mission, no ifs or buts. lest we forget!
Your caption excites us and makes us participate. Best regards. Sebastiano

The image is beautiful and touching, as is your reflection, but unfortunately history repeats itself, what is happening in the world is there for all to see.
Congratulations on the excellent proposal.
Greetings
Caesar

I gladly comment on this image, you ask if man will ever change....... the answer lies in what is still happening today in Ukraine and Gaza, I wonder how a people who have suffered so much can not stop in front of a population of men and women with defenseless children, so much so that it is known that the leaders of the horrendous extermination of October 7 are located in other countries. :-(
Congrats on the thought.

A day in which you would want to lock yourself in the house and cry non-stop; there is an abyss of evil that recurs and continues with other names and protagonists; if only it were an event of eighty years ago that ended with the end of the world war and the dismantling of Auschwitz: it seems to me that we are always there, dealing with the banality of evil; And the math still doesn't add up.
