Le dune di Piscinas, il deserto sardo Piscinas, le dune del cervo L'oasi dove i cervi si spingono fino al mare . Ci sono paesaggi che solo la Sardegna può avere e che fortunatamente sono ancora incontaminati. Comune di Arbus (VS). Costa occidentale sarda. Qui si può ammirare un vero e proprio deserto di sabbia: le dune di Piscinas. Questo luogo è uno degli angoli più belli e affascinanti di tutta la Sardegna e le dune rappresentano una delle più grandi meraviglie dell'intero Mediterraneo. Piscinas è un vero e proprio deserto in miniatura, formato da imponenti dune dorate, alte più di cinquanta metri, che penetrano nell'entroterra per due chilometri. L'impatto paesaggistico che si viene a creare lascia il visitatore senza fiato. Un frammento di Africa impreziosito dalla peculiarità della macchia sarda. Un prodigio della natura e una meta imperdibile se si decide di trascorrere una vacanza in Sardegna. Dopo avere percorso sentieri sterrati e sabbiosi, lungo la strada che dal borgo di Ingurtosu scende verso il mare lasciandosi alle spalle la valle de Is Animas, con i ruderi delle suggestive strutture minerarie disseminate nella campagna, ci si avvicina lentamente al mare, attraverso un percorso affascinante, dove la storia mineraria e la natura si compenetrano. Ma prima di scorgere l'azzurro dell'acqua ci s'imbatte sulle dune, caratteristica di tutta la Costa Verde, ma che solo a Piscinas raggiungono l'apice della bellezza e della maestosità, creando un ambiente unico. Gradualmente l'azione incessante del vento ha trasportato la sabbia sempre più verso l'interno andando a formare dei dossi sabbiosi sempre più alti. L'imponenza delle dune che col tempo si sono ampliate sia in altezza che in estensione, colpisce incredibilmente. La vegetazione qui, a differenza dei grossi deserti, non è del tutto assente. Anzi, in quest'ambiente la flora endemica tipica sarda si è adattata perfettamente. Troviamo il ginepro, il lentisco, la ginestra, il giglio di mare, lo sparto pungente, l'euforbia, la carota spinosa, l'olivastro, tutto accompagnato da larghe distese di tamerici e di giunchi nei pressi dei piccoli corsi d'acqua .Tracce di cervo sardo sulle dune di Piscinas In questo bellissimo ecosistema la fauna è caratterizzata dall'imponente presenza del cervo sardo e dalla tartaruga marina Caretta caretta, che trova in questo tratto di costa incontaminato un luogo ideale per la deposizione delle uova, nelle prime notti estive. La sabbia è finissima e assume via via diverse tonalità: da bianca, in prossimità delle dune, diventa sempre più dorata man mano che ci si avvicina al mare, in un gioco di colori brillanti a ridosso di un'acqua trasparente. Piscinas incarna alla perfezione l'anima selvaggia della Sardegna che concilia magicamente il deserto con la macchia; un luogo abbastanza isolato da mantenersi integro nella sua bellezza. Una scheggia di Africa e di oceano, ma con un profumo sardo molto più forte .
