His mouth uplifted from his grim repast ... sent on May 26, 2013 (22:58) by Saverio69. 27 comments, 3326 views.

, 1/800 f/8.0, ISO 400, hand held. Specie: Falco biarmicus

Thank Earthly Justitia, Francesco Abbate, Wells and Massimo Mancini for benevolent comments ("exaggerated" benevolent in some cases). ;-)

Nice clip of a subject, unfortunately, lately more and more rare, but very very interesting!

It 's true. Even the status of the Sicilian population - the most consistent in Europe - is not encouraging. This falcon is particularly sensitive to human disturbance: the illegal taking of the chicks, unfortunately still common, in many cases determines the final abandonment of breeding sites by couples. The species also suffers from the competition of the most adaptable Pellegrino, which in recent decades has had a dizzying population growth, occupying many historical sites of Lanner.

Thanks for the ride ;-)
