Gonepteryx rhamni, (Linné, 1758) - Famiglia Pieridae - Sottofamiglia Coliadinae - Apertura alare: Da 5,5 a 6 cm. - Distribuzione in Italia: Presente in tutte le regioni, isole comprese, ma estremamente localizzata in Calabria, Sicilia e Sardegna. - Habitat: Ampie radure e cespuglieti dal livello del mare sino a oltre 2000 m. - Periodo di volo: Univoltina con sfarfallamenti in giugno, ma gli adulti svernano rimanendo in vita sino all'anno successivo, per cui è possibile osservare esemplari in volo, nelle giornate miti, anche in pieno inverno. - Piata alimentare dei bruchi: Varie specie dei generi Rhamnus e Frangula. - Dimorfismo sessuale: La femmina ha una colorazione bianco-verdastra. - Specie simili: Le femmine di Gonepteryx rhamni si possono confondere con quelle di G. cleopatra nelle località in cui convivono, ma la particolare forma dell'apice dell'ala anteriore risulta più appuntita e sporgente in G. rhamni. In molte femmine di G. cleopatra si nota sul diritto della zona basale dell'ala posteriore una leggera spolveratura arancione.
