Si è svolto in data 27/09/2023 il rilievo autunnale del Ghiacciaio Occidentale del Montasio ai fini del calcolo del Bilancio di Massa annuale, che verrà pubblicato nei bollettini del Comitato Glaciologico Italiano. Sono stati effettuati due rilievi topografici ad alta precisione della superficie del ghiacciaio con l'ausilio di un drone DJI Matrice 300 RTK. Nel primo rilievo è stato utilizzato il sensore LiDAR DJI L1 per la restituzione diretta della nuvola di punti. Nel secondo è stata utilizzata la camera fotogrammetrica DJI P1. L'elaborazione dei dati fotogrammetrici consentirà di ricavare una seconda nuvola di punti. L'operazione è stata condotta dall'Università di Udine con la collaborazione della Regione FVG - Servizio foreste e corpo forestale (Struttura stabile centrale per l'attività di monitoraggio del manto nevoso e del rilievo dei fenomeni valanghivi e Stazione forestale di Tarvisio) e l'assistenza logistica della Protezione Civile Regionale.
