Una menzione a parte merita il bellissimo chiostro della cattedrale di Bayonne, che risale al 1240 e ha un ingresso separato rispetto all'edificio principale. Devi sapere che questo chiostro è uno dei più grandi in tutta la Francia. Lungo le gallerie intorno al prato centrale puoi vedere nicchie nelle pareti che avevano funzione di tombe, alcune delle quali risalgono al XIV secolo. In periodo medievale era al centro della vita civile: qui infatti si tenevano assemblee tra le varie corporazioni della città. In realtà questa funzione sopravvive ancora oggi, infatti questa incredibile struttura gotica è ancora coinvolta nelle tradizioni culturali della città, e vi si organizzano spesso mostre di artigianato e concerti all'aperto in estate.
