Il sole già dietro la montagna, in cielo nuvole rossastre a chiazze, in lontananza l'ultima luce sulle vette sinuose, la bruma del crepuscolo che scende sopra ogni cosa, e poi loro... A destra e sinistra, chissà dove, frastuono di rami rotti, di zolle divelte con la testa, di cupi ruggiti bramosi. È l'amore dei cervi.
