La costruzione pare risalga al XI secolo ed è una delle più antiche presenti in Bormio. Sconsacrata all'inizio del secolo e utilizzata addirittura come deposito per lungo tempo la ex-chiesa presenta attualmente una struttura esterna molto semplice, nella quale è ancora perfettamente riconoscibile l'abside circolare dalla quale un tempo si accedeva alla chiesa per mezzo di un portale oggi non più esistente e del quale rimane a testimonianza il rosone. Sulle pareti sono ancora presenti le caratteristiche finestre rotonde. A dispetto del semplice aspetto esterno, internamente la chiesa è impreziosita da numerosi affreschi che il recente restauro ha permesso di tornare ad ammirare. La navata, una soltanto e con volta a botte, è infatti decorata con numerosi affreschi, dei quali però si ignorano gli autori, risalenti ad epoche diverse tra il XIV e XVI secolo. Tra i Santi raffigurati spicca la figura di San Cristoforo col Bambino sulle spalle. Gli affreschi sull'abside pare siano stati realizzati nel 1475 da Aloisio Sermondi, al quale furono commissionati per volontà di Giacomo Alberti.
