Una bella chiesa cinquecentesca ai piedi del Campidoglio, con una storia davvero particolare. Fu infatti costruita dall'Arciconfraternita della Misericordia, un gruppo di laici fiorentini residenti a Roma che si occupavano di assistere e accompagnare al patibolo i condannati a morte e di seppellirne i corpi. Nata nel 1488, l'Arciconfraternita ebbe tra i suoi membri personaggi famosi come Michelangelo e Vasari, nonché i papi Clemente VIII, Urbano VIII e Clemente XII e, dal 1540, le fu riconosciuto il privilegio di liberare un condannato a morte all'anno. Tra i suoi “pazienti” più celebri, come venivano definiti i condannati, vi fu anche Giordano Bruno, portato al rogo a Campo dei Fiori nel 1600. Non ci sono tante immagini di questa chiesa... Anche perche' e' apetta al pubblico SOLO UNA VOLTA all'anno - il 24 giugno, in ricorrenza della festa di San Giovanni....
