Il gruppo etnico dei Gabra è una resiliente comunità che si trova nei paesaggi aridi, duri e implacabili del nord del Kenya e del sud dell'Etiopia. Il popolo Gabra ha imparato ad adattarsi alle esigenze del loro ambiente, affrontando numerose sfide che hanno plasmato il loro stile di vita per generazioni. Una delle sfide più significative che i Gabra affrontano è senza dubbio la scarsità d'acqua. Nel villaggio che ho visitato pochi giorni fa, non piove da oltre 5 anni - un periodo durante il quale la maggior parte delle famiglie ha perso il loro bestiame, cammelli e capre, di cui dipendono la loro vita e il loro futuro. Nonostante queste difficoltà, il popolo Gabra mostra una notevole resilienza e unità. Si basano sulla loro forte struttura sociale e sulla presa di decisioni collettiva per affrontare i momenti difficili (Marsabit County, North Kenya - Luglio 2023)
