Non amo indugiare su scene di caccia, anche se so bene che nel mondo animale la predazione è normale e necessaria per la sopravvivenza. Ma questa scena era davvero insolita oltre che incruenta e ci siamo fermati a lungo ad osservarla. La leonessa aveva abbattuto da sola un bello gnu. I suoi tre inesperti cuccioloni si erano infatti lanciati nell'inseguimento, infruttuoso, di un facocero e non si erano accorti di nulla. La leonessa e la sua preda erano sottovento e ne' i suoi richiami ne' l'odore del sangue li raggiungevano. Per un bel po' la leonessa si è guardata intorno perplessa, cercando con dei versi di richiamare la loro attenzione. Niente da fare. Spariti insieme al facocero. Alla fine, rassegnata, senza nemmeno addentare la sua preda, è partita alla ricerca dei “ragazzi”…
