Visto le ultime notizie sul cambiamento climatico degli ultimi tempi, questa campagna aretina mi sembra un'isola felice. Il Po ed il Garda in crisi idrica, una siccità senza precedenti, che va ben oltre sei mesi di assenza di pioggia. In Africa in particolare il Corno d'Africa, dove il fenomeno dura da anni. Il WWF Kenya ha in corso una campagna per “salvare una generazione”, riferendosi sia a milioni di persone che soffrono della carenza idrica, sia alle loro fonti di sussistenza (agricoltura in primis), sia alla fauna selvatica decimata. La siccità colpisce anche l'Amazzonia: i ricercatori spiegano le cause dell'effetto a cascata. Vi è un forte legame tra deforestazione e siccità: una minore copertura forestale determina meno acqua nel sistema e la mancanza di acqua sta portando la foresta a prosciugarsi e morire, riducendo ancora di più l'acqua. Anche vaste zone del Sudamerica fanno i conti con una siccità come non si vedeva da almeno 60 anni. Particolarmente colpito il “granaio” del mondo in Argentina: qui le stime dicono che si rischia di perdere tra il 40 e il 50% dei raccolti di grano e soia.
