Visita alla Sala delle Carte Geografiche di Palazzo Vecchio. Al termine della visita alla Sala dei Gigli da una porta ricavata sotto gli affreschi di Domenico Ghirlandaio, si trova la Sala delle Carte Geografiche o Stanza del Guardaroba. Questa stanza era in origine la Guardaroba Medicea del Granduca Cosimo I. Cioè la sede dell'istituzione che conservava, inventariava e movimentava tutti i beni dello Stato e del Sovrano, era il luogo in cui i Medici custodivano i loro beni più preziosi, oggi conserva mappe geografiche di grande interesse e un famoso mappamondo. La sala presenta uno stupendo soffitto di legno opera di Dionigi Nigetti. Mentre le pareti sono occupate da armadiature decorate con 53 mappe dipinte ad olio. Tali mappe furono dipinte – tra il 1563 e il 1589 – sulle ante degli armadi, per opera del frate domenicano Egnazio Danti e di Stefano Buonsignori.
