La piazza è opera dell'architetto Cesar Pelli ed è il risultato del progetto di riqualificazione urbana dei quartieri di Garibaldi, Isola e Varesine. E'stata Inaugurata l'8 dicembre 2012. La piazza ha una forma circolare ed è circondata da vari edifici davvero sorprendenti.
