Un antico proverbio orientale recita: “Chi pianta tamarindi non raccoglie tamarindi” riferendosi al fatto che la pianta del tamarindo impiega circa 90 anni (secondo la credenza popolare di quel tempo, in realtà sono un po' meno) prima di fruttificare e colui che pianta il seme non riuscirà quindi ad assaggiarne i frutti. Il proverbio, metaforicamente, invita a fare del bene senza con questo pretendere di ottenere qualcosa in cambio, a seminare e donare amore in maniera incondizionata.
