Prato Piazza/Platzwiese, Valle di Braies/Pragsertal, Parco naturale Fanes Sennes Braies ... settembre 2022 ... Il forte di Prato Piazza o di Vallandro, in tedesco Sperrwerk Plätzwiese, sorge in posizione strategica sull'omonino altopiano alla quota di 2040 metri s.l.m.; costruito tra il 1888 ed il 1895, apparteneva al grande sistema di fortificazioni austriache lungo il confine italiano e suo compito specifico era la protezione della sottostante valle di Landro. Ancora oggi lo si raggiunge partendo dal fondovalle e percorrendo la strada militare che con molti tornanti e buona pendenza guadagna l'altopiano. Durante il primo conflitto mondiale il forte venne ripetutamente attaccato dall'artiglieria italiana posizionata di fronte, precisamente sul monte Cristallo: per tale motivo fu disarmato e mantenuto come osservatorio e l'artiglieria in dotazione riposizionata all'aperto, in una postazione di tiro più congeniale. Al termine delle ostilità il forte fu dismesso dal demanio militare italiano e divenne proprietà privata ... (focale eq.FF 85mm) #Montagna #Autunno #Tramonto ... Google Maps ...
