Il mio allevamento di lepidotteri procede molto bene, ho diversi bozzoli di specie allevate a fine agosto che sono in attesa della prossima primavera: Macaoni, Pieris brassicae, Noctua pronuba e Chrysodeixis chalcites. A inizio mese perlustrando il terreno ho trovato sotto le foglie dei broccoli due gruppi di uova di Pieris brassicae. La farfalla depone le uova in gruppi da circa 50 a più di 100 e sono di colore giallo accesso, quindi è abbastanza facile vederle nonostante siano molto piccole. Il primo gruppo era composto da più di 100 uova, si sono schiuse 10 giorni fa e sto fotografando i piccoli bruchi per documentare tutte le fasi della loro vita. Appena cresceranno, li separerò e li posizionerò a piccoli gruppi in fauna box più grandi. Quello in foto è il secondo gruppo, composto da 46 uova, non si sono ancora schiuse e sono riuscito a fotografarle ad alto ingrandimento. Anche in inverno le uova, i bruchi e i bozzoli li posiziono sempre all'esterno, in un luogo comunque riparato da pioggia e neve. Questo perché se tenuti in casa le temperature più alte velocizzano il loro naturale ciclo di vita. Quindi la farfalla potrà nascere prima della primavera, e una volta liberata il clima sarà ancora troppo freddo per lei, avrà difficoltà a nutrirsi e non potrà accoppiarsi.
