I add a small note on how much the glacial landscape of Iceland has changed and is changing:
The lake that you see at the end of the glacier is actually very large, eye and cross has a diameter of about half a km.

Il lago che si vede al termine del ghiacciaio è in realtà molto grande, occhio e croce ha un diametro di circa mezzo km.
Circa 35 anni fa quel lago non esisteva, il ghiacciaio copriva tutta quella zona. Oltretutto la profondità del lago è di circa 60 metri, quindi si può immaginare quanto spesso fosse il ghiacciaio (probabilmente un centinaio di metri) in quella zona solo pochi anni fa. |
