Ci fermiamo per una breve sosta nel nostro girovagare per il Kgalagadi in una delle aree dove, a proprio rischio e pericolo, è permesso scendere dalla macchina. In realtà sono aree che anche ai leoni piacciono molto, come spesso documentato… I nostri corn flakes esercitano un'immediata attrazione sui “sociable weavers”, passeri repubblicani, il cui nido è proprio sopra le nostre teste. Abilissimi tessitori, costruiscono insieme il tetto di nidi-condomini capaci di ospitare un centinaio di coppie, ognuna delle quali avrà poi il suo spazio personale. Spesso finiscono con l'essere così pesanti da tirar giù l'albero, o il palo della luce, su cui sono costruiti.
