Gonepteryx cleopatra, (Linné, 1767) - Famiglia Pieridae - Sottofamiglia Coliadinae - Apertura alare: Da 5,5 a 6 cm. - Distribuzione in Italia: In Liguria e nell'Italia peninsulare, comprese Sicilia e Sardegna. Nell'Italia settentrionale risulta rara e limitata a poche località. - Habitat: Ampie radure, cespuglieti e terreni accidentati dal livello del mare sino a 1000 m., ma in alcune località delle Alpi Marittime è stata segnalata sino a 1800 m. - Periodo di volo: Univoltina con sfarfallamenti in giugno, ma gli adulti svernano rimanendo in vita sino all'anno successivo, per cui è possibile osservare esemplari in volo anche in pieno inverno nelle giornate miti. - Pianta alimentare dei bruchi: Varie specie del genere Rhamnus. - Dimorfismo sessuale: La femmina ha una colorazione bianco-verdastra e con una leggera spolveratura arancione sul diritto della zona basale dell'ala posteriore. - Specie simili: Le femmine possono essere confuse con quelle di G. rhamni nelle località in cui convivono, ma la particolare forma dell'apice dell'ala anteriore risulta più appuntita e sporgente in G. rhamni. Sempre nelle femmine di G. rhamni non è mai presente la leggera spolveratura arancione sul diritto delle ali posteriori. (Fotografata alla 5 terre durante il viaggio di nozze)
