Nella comparazione con l'altro sito famoso per i mulini nei Paesi Bassi, Kinderdijk, trovo quest'ultimo preferibile per complessiva ambientazione ed atmosfera. Ad ogni modo, nel Paese, sono presenti oltre 1200 mulini a vento ed esiste in internet un sito web che ne funge da banca dati, con caratteristiche e mappa (www.molendatabase.nl). Alcuni, meno celebrati e famosi di Zaanse Schans e Kinderdijk, sono davvero pittoreschi e affascinanti. Ad esempio, ti cito l'Oranjemolen di Vlissingen costruito in riva all'estuario della Schelda, che, in inverno, durante le burrasche, viene sferzato da onde enormi. Ho ancora il rimpianto di non essere andato a fotografarlo durante la tempesta Eunice.
