Una data, il 14 giugno, che mi lega a due ricorrenze, il 94° compleanno del Che ed il 29° compleanno di mio figlio Francesco il "cubano". Questa immagine, in me evoca il libro e il film "I diari della motocicletta" non sarebbe nata se Francesco non avesse vinto il suo dottorato di ricerca, primo fra tutti i 20 partecipanti all'Università degli studi di Firenze, che gli è valso un'esperienza unica di sei mesi a Cuba, in collaborazione con l'Università de La Habana. Il suo dottorato è strettamente legato alla figura del Che, infatti la sua ricerca è "l'istruzione scolastica dal periodo del dopo rivoluzione, fino agli anni '90". Nella sua tesi del quinquennio su questo tema non ha trovato materiale in Italia, la sua ricerca a La Habana riguarda gli aspetti dell'istruzione e del calo drastico dell'analfabetismo dopo la vittoria sul dittatore Batista, condotta dal comandante Che Ghevara nella rivoluzione cubana del 1959.
