L'azienda Autobianchi venne fondata nei pressi di Milano nel 1955 mentre dal 1968 entrò a far parte del Gruppo Fiat. La Autobianchi Bianchina Cabriolet (progetto B 122) la si può anche pensare come una lussuosa versione della Fiat 500. Venne prodotta in 3 serie dal 1960 al 1969 per un totale di circa 8.000 esemplari e per questo motivo è abbastanza ricercata dai collezionisti. Fu progettata dall'ingegnere Luigi Rapi che dalla Fiat di Torino era passato alla Autobianchi a Desio che allora faceva parte della provincia di Milano mentre dal 15 giugno 2004 fa parte della provincia di Monza e della Brianza (MB). Era dotata di una meccanica simile a quella delle Fiat Nuove 500 prima D e poi F… cioè un motore bicilindrico twin di 479 cm3 erogante 21 cavalli di potenza disposto posteriormente… come pure la trazione: il propulsore delle Fiat Nuove 500 aveva una cubatura di 499 cm3 ed una potenza di circa 18 cavalli. Era la Bianchina più veloce visto che sfiorava i 105 chilometri orari di velocità massima. Inizialmente era dotata solo di una capote in tela ripiegabile mentre in seguito come optional si poteva richiedere anche un tettuccio rigido tipo hard top. La Ruote Borrani Spa... azienda apprezzatissima a livello mondiale... venne fondata a Milano da Carlo Borrani e Ettore Ambrosetti nel 1922 con il nominativo di Rudge-Withworth Italia (l'inglese Rudge & Withworth... che già era la produttrice dei cerchi a raggi utilizzati sulle Alfa Romeo da competizione e non solo... aveva inizialmente ceduto la licenza per la costruzione dei suoi cerchi in Italia a Borrani) per poi essere quasi subito rinominata Carlo Borrani Spa producendo cerchi di sua progettazione. Nel 1937 la direzione dell'azienda passerà al figlio Cesare. Costoro hanno prodotto cerchi ruota in lega leggera di alluminio e cerchi a raggi in acciaio che per moltissimi anni sono stati forniti alla Ferrari, alla Maserati, a molte Squadre Corse ed anche a moltissime altre case costruttrici di vetture... e pure di motocicli... sia in Italia che Oltralpe... quando dai nuovi acquirenti venivano richiesti come optional. Negli anni l'italiana Ruote Borrani è diventata il simbolo delle ruote a raggi... a livello mondiale. (c) lucianoserra.d
