La riserva del lago di Candia costituisce una delle più rilevanti zone umide del Piemonte. Circondato da dolci colline moreniche su cui sorgono i borghi di Candia Canavese , Mazzè e Vische ha una estensione di circa 400 ettari e una profondità media di cinque metri ed è alimentato da alcune sorgenti: il deflusso è assicurato dal canale Traversaro. Ricca la varietà di flora con la presenza di rare specie idrofile e soprattutto l'avifauna , essendo il lago luogo di sosta per uccelli svernanti e di passo , con oltre 200 specie censite. Ricca anche la fauna ittica con la presenza dei tipici pesci di acqua dolce: carpa, tinca, luccio, cavedano, persico trota , persico reale e pesce gatto . Sul lago da alcuni anni è stato realizzato un ben organizzato e vasto lido balneare, assai frequentato nella stagione estiva, con piscina, ristorazione e area giochi per bambini; non mancano intorno al lago ottimi ristoranti in cui consumare piatti tipici. Esiste la possibilità di gite in barca e le immediate adiacenze del lago offrono piacevoli passeggiate a piedi o in bicicletta in un ambiente naturale tranquillo e incontaminato.
