La gente di Hong Kong chiama informalmente la tramvia "Ding Ding" (??), in riferimento al doppio campanello utilizzato dai tram per avvertire i pedoni del loro avvicinamento. Rispetto agli autobus e alla metropolitana, i tram sono spesso l'opzione di trasporto pubblico più economica e i biglietto costano pochi centesimi di euro, sia per "ding ding" che per metropolitana: un buon incentivo per non usare le auto private.
