Il complesso costituito dalla chiesa di S.Agostino e dall'attiguo ex-convento col caratteristico chiostro costituisce, insieme agli altri monumenti che si affacciano sulla Piazza del Duomo di Pietrasanta, un polo di grande interesse storico-artistico. La chiesa fu edificata a partire dal sec. XIV dai frati agostiniani, già presenti in romitori della Versilia, che successivamente (sec.XVI) costruirono l'attiguo convento. Elevata sopra una breve scalinata di marmo, la sobria facciata, anch'essa in marmo, è caratterizzata da tre grandi archi a fondo cieco, sormontati da un ordine di eleganti archetti gotici dalle esili colonnette. Oggi il complesso è sconsacrato. Recenti restauri della chiesa e del convento ne hanno salvato le degradate strutture che oggi vengono utilizzate per mostre temporanee, soprattutto nei mesi estivi.
